Definition and occurrence

Fascia is white, muscular connective tissue that surrounds every muscle, every bone, the organs and even the nerves without exception - every cell is enveloped by fascia. We are made up of 25% fascia!

Function of the fascia
In their entirety, the fasciae represent a network that runs through the whole body and has a variety of functions. Fasciae give our body shape, support and structure. They also influence the transmission of force within the muscles. The main tasks of the fasciae as a sensory organ consist of communication and the transmission of stimuli. The fasciae contain the largest number of receptors and nerve cells that flood our brain with sensory perceptions. This explains why a disorder in the fascia can lead to severe pain.

Care of the fascial apparatus

The large proportion of fasciae and the vital tasks associated with them demonstrate the importance of fasciae. Like dental care, the care of the fascial apparatus is of the utmost importance. In order for the fascia to remain healthy, i.e. flexible and elastic, for a long time, we must move correctly in terms of quality, i.e. avoid impacts and walk with balance.

Among primitive peoples who walk barefoot on natural ground, there are practically no musculoskeletal complaints. Our children are proof of this. They enjoy running, jumping, skipping and climbing. This natural urge to move keeps our fasciae healthy. By frequently sitting, walking and standing on hard, flat floors, we interfere disastrously with our natural movement pattern, which would be: walking barefoot on uneven and yielding surfaces! Tension, pain and wear and tear are the result.
